Screenshot Saturday: One less in my pile of shame

I don’t even want to count how many unplayed games I have in my game libraries. Of course, there are a lot that I technically didn’t even buy, because they were part of game bundles. But some I did buy and, as in the case of Cultist Simulator, I put on my puppy eyes and asked bookahnerk to give the code to me when he’d gotten it through Humble Monthly. And then… I played it for a whole 7 minutes.

But today, I decided to get into the game and give it a real try! It does not really have a tutorial. At least, I can’t remember playing through one and I did not get one today. Instead, I read through the Beginner’s Guide and then found another guide for getting started. This was enough then to – well, get me started.

To be honest, I still don’t really know what I’m doing and I’m constantly reading through the wiki to find out which card to use where. And – oh yes, I have died three times already! I am now playing with the 4th descendant. But hey, it’s fun!

  1. I went through a whole bunch of Cultist playthroughs before I started to feel like I had a -slight- grasp on what to do in the game. In that sense, it really encapsulates the feeling of playing with the occult and attempting to come close to things-man-was-not-meant-to-know.

    1. I am still very much confused on how and when to get the “talk” and “explore” verbs to appear and how to even start a cult. I’m always surprised when the action comes up for that and I can start one. Usually, it’s the end of that playthrough about 1 to 4 minutes afterwards because of some other reason, though. :p
