Trove: Trading Post Exploits and contacting support

26Jul 2015

Just a short post, because I think it is important. There is an exploit that is apparently used by some players (hopefully soon to be ex-players) in Trove. I do not know how it works and even if I did, I would obviously not write it down here. The gist is that if you use a player-created trading post for trading, the other side can potentially steal the items you want to trade with them and leave you with nothing instead.

If you want to trade, only use the Trading Post in the hub (entered by holding down “H” on your keyboard). This notice is also posted within Trove. I love that the developers use this to inform players about the most important news. But I figured I should also write about this and include a screenshot, so you know which Trading Post they are talking about. This is because the hub is also surrounded by biomes where you can actually place your cornerstone and within those, you can place your created Trading Post! So, don’t fall for that either. Only use this Trading Post that you can see on the screenshot until the developers say that they have fixed the exploit.

Trove Hub Trading Post
This is the Trading Post you can still safely use!

And while we’re already talking about trading: Please only use the Trading Posts. You can also drop items on the ground or into the Community Chest, but once you have done so, everybody can pick up the items. There is no guarantee that you will get something in return this way!

Trion have said that they are working on additional methods of trading. I assume this means something like an auction house. Until then, however, there is only the Trading Post. So be careful!

By the way, if you have been scammed or if you want to contact support because of something else, you can do so at support @ trovegame . com. For example, if you see any offensive/vulgar club names or if you know of some other exploit. I think they generally do not reimburse your lost items unless it was because of a game bug, but it can’t hurt to contact them anyway, especially if you have been scammed because they do go after the offending player!
